The Topp Twins and the APO

Filmed live at the Auckland Town Hall, New Zealand’s best-loved entertainers, Jools and Lynda Topp, the Topp Twins, make their orchestral debut with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

Country meets the Classics in this unique collaboration with the Topp Twins’ original songs being given full symphonic treatment, with well-known classics, such as the William Tell Overture, also featuring with the Topps’ trademark comedic delivery.

The Topps’ comedy characters Ken and Ken, Prue and Dilly, and Camp Mother and Camp Leader inject humour and spontaneity subverting what is usually a very serious high-brow event. Camp Leader has always wanted to be a percussionist and Ken fancies himself as a conductor. Back stage interviews and warm-ups with the orchestra add extra entertainment value.

No one has ever yodelled with the APO – this will be a world first.

The TV Special won its primetime  timeslot – and went on win Best Entertainment Programme at the New Zealand Qantas Film and TV Awards in 2010.

The Video was released by Vendetta Films.
