Dammed

Dams are affecting the health of many rivers and the communities that live along them.  The film tells the story of three major rivers : the Ganges, the Fraser (Canada) and the Amazon using well-known storytellers with an affinity to each river. As rivers are dammed and diverted, polluted and altered, human society itself is threatened. A river as a metaphor for life.   An international ensemble of musicians including Tom Bailey (ex Thompson Twins), classical Indian singers/musicians and NZ electronic artists take a musical journey down the Ganges River from its source in the Himalayas to its final destination in the Bay of Bengal. Similarly other world music artists bring the plight of other rivers alive.  The film is a call to action and a celebration of humanity’s intimate relationship with the most necessary of all elements, water.
